WELCH—WelchOK.com is pleased to announce the Welch State Bank Mobile Webcast Unit, which will enable the site to stream live audio coverage of the Welch Wildcats’ entire football schedule via WelchOK.com. Welch State Bank has underwritten technology upgrades that should make remote webcasting of Welch Wildcat football possible from every home and away game on the 2011 schedule.
WelchOK.com serves as a news and information website for the Welch area, and site personnel began streaming live audio, with play-by-play reporting and commentary, as an experiment at the end of the 2010 football season. The tests worked well, and the streaming continued throughout the basketball season as well. While an overall success, technology failed on a few occasions due to cellular data network limitations. WelchOK.com founder and publisher Tyson Wynn said, “Our single biggest hurdle has been unreliable service from our existing—and expensive—mobile provider. Research has identified a product from a different cell provider that boasts better and faster mobile data coverage, and we’re thrilled Welch State Bank is willing to help us out with the cost of implementing it.”
Welch State Bank Assistant Vice President/Marketing Officer, Terra Neal said, “Welch State Bank is a community bank with deep roots in Welch. We’re glad that we can help bring live audio of this and other events to the Welch community.”
Added Wynn, “I prefer Wildcat fans attend every game in person. You just can’t beat fans in the stands cheering their team to victory. But there are good reasons—whether they be work, distance, inclement weather, etc.—that fans can’t make every game, so we’ve created a solution that allows Wildcat fans simply to click on an audio player on our site and listen via their PCs or smart phones—literally from anywhere in the world. That’s especially nice for friends, grandparents, and other family members who may not live near Welch. The Welch State Bank Mobile Webcast Unit will also be used to cover other local events of interest to the community.”
The Wildcat football season gets underway Sept. 3, when Welch hosts the Bluejacket Chieftains at 7:30 p.m. Live audio with Toby Smith and Tyson Wynn will get underway at approximately 7:15 p.m. on WelchOK.com.
