WELCH—Your Welch Wildcats tolled up a 45-point victory in the 2011 Battle of the Bell Friday night, sending the visiting Bluejacket Chieftains home just a bit early when the 45-point mercy rule took effect with 3:15 remaining in the game. The two-point conversion that sealed the deal was run in by Chance Harris, for a final score of 59-14.
The starters got out to an early lead, and that gave some of the younger Wildcats the opportunity to hone their skills.
Alex Smith practically lived in the end zone, with five TDs and a two-point conversion for 32 points. Casey Pendergraft, Austin Riley, and Cody Triece each contributed a TD and six points, Tra Dodson tallied four, with a pair of two-point conversions. Change Harris had a two-point conversion and a good kick after TD for three. Vicente Fonseca got on the board with a two-point conversion.
