Fire Devastates Fonseca Saddle Shop Property

WELCH–A fire broke out in the late night/early morning hours of Jan. 10 & 11, 2018, at the Fonseca Saddle Shop property, known to many as the former T.H. Rogers Lumber Co., on the western half of the block between Commercial and Curtis Streets, in Welch.

Welch Volunteer Fire Dept., as well as personnel from Bluejacket, Centralia, Chetopa, Miami, and Oswego (Kan.), responded.

Welch Fire Dept. personnel reported that no one was injures in the fire, though property damage is extensive. The property nearest the alley between Commercial and Curtis Streets appears to be safe.

To be sure, the Fonseca family will need the help and support of their friends and neighbors in the days to come.
