WELCH—The Welch Public Schools music department’s annual homecoming chili supper will be held Fri., Nov. 4, 2011, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the Civic Auditorium.
The fundraiser offers chile, coneys, and Frito pies, plus beverages and homemade desserts.
Adult admission is $5, and children under 12 are $2. Come have a warm meal before homecoming festivities begin at 6:45 p.m.
WELCH—Vinita native Clint Walker brings his high energy music show to the Welch Civic Auditorium on Sat., Oct. 29, 2011.
Walker specializes in classic country and rock and roll and is well known for his crowd pleasing renditions of hits from Elvis to Roy Orbison and contemporary artists, as well.
The Welch Schools music department will be running the concession stand, providing plenty of good things to eat at the concert.
Tickets are $10 per person, and all students are free with a paid adult.
The doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.
The Welch Civic Auditorium is located at the corner of Curtis St. and 6th Ave. in Welch, just across form the high school.

WELCH—Welch’s annual Harvest Days main street festival will be Sat., Oct. 8, 2011, starting at 9 a.m. Main street will play host to lots of fun and games, vendors, contests, food, music, and entertainment for everyone on the family. And the street dance is back, by popular demand. It will start at 8 p.m. and run approximately three hours. Cash and prizes will be given away throughout the dance.
Harvest Days events include a baker’s auction (benefiting the volunteer fire dept.), best-decorated pumpkin contest, boo-ha-ha parade for kids in costume (vendors, please bring small items for the kids), fire truck rides, vendors, and craftspeople. More activities will continue to be added, so keep checking our site and “Like” Harvest Days on Facebook.
Booth spaces are now available for reservation, and rates are very reasonable. Spaces are available with or without electricity.

WELCH—The Sooner Xplosion Clogging Team traveled to Scottsdale, Ariz., for the Southwest U.S. Championship Clogging Competition, July 22-23, 2011.
The team was chosen as one of the top-10 final teams to clog on Saturday evening for the overall championship.They clogged to Hillbilly Shoes and placed sixth of 68 teams.
Each member of the clogging team also performed solos and each team member won awards. The team is trained by instructor Jason Davis, and the young team’s great success is a testament to his ability.
GROVE, Okla.—The Sooner Xplosion Clogging Team placed first in the line elementary division and first overall in traditional line clogging competition held at the Grand Lake National Clogging Competition, June 11, 2011.
In the challenge solo division, Chase Herd took first place in the male division with Brett Mayfield second and Brice Mayfield third place. In traditional solos, male division, first place went to Chase Herd with second and third going to Brett Mayfield and Brice Mayfield, respectively.
Katelyn Winfrey placed first in the traditional female solos and second in the novice solos, and she brought home the overall grand champion female traditional award.
The team is under the direction of Jason Davis, national clogging champion of Miami, Okla. The team will be competing at the Southwest U.S. Clogging Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz., later this month.
WELCH—The Nowata Country Jubilee presents Brian Bailey and the Hootie Creek Band at the Welch Civic Center, Sat., Mar. 12, 2011. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; show starts at 7:00 p.m.
Adult admission is $10.00, students 13-18 admission is $5.00, and those under 12 are admitted free.

We had hoped to announce the big winner today, but our original round of voting ended in a dead tie. We received 88 votes in round one, and each of the two following pictures received 23 votes. So, here we are with a sudden-death overtime of sorts. Here’s your chance to break the tie and determine who’ll receive the $50 grand prize. Voting is now open and runs until Thur., Jan. 20, 2011, at 5 PM.

WELCH—Welch Public Schools’ annual Veterans’ Day program will be held Thur., Nov. 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Wildcat Gymnasium.
The program will feature musical selections performed by a combined choir made up of second- through sixth-grade students. The Wildcat band will accompany the singers as they present “Our America,” a medley of patriotic songs. The Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grades will be singing together, the Wildcat chorus will be performing, and the music appreciation group is on the program as well.
The keynote speaker will be Sgt. Robert “Bob” Whitchurch, U.S. Army (Ret.). This Vietnam veteran will share his experiences in uniform as well as give the history of Veterans’ Day.
The public is invited to attend, and all area Veterans are encouraged to be on hand as the students take this opportunity to thank this special group of people who have given so much to this great country of ours and ensured the freedoms we enjoy.
WELCH—Friday night, Oct. 29, 2010, the final home football game of the 2010 season will be held at Welch Public Schools. That means it will be Senior Night. For Senior Night the Welch Schools music department will present the annual chili and stew supper.
This annual event has proven to be one of the most successful fundraisers of the fall semester for the students of the Wildcat band and chorus. Those folks who have attended in the past have always come away satisfied because they are both supporting the music department and enjoying a great meal!
The chili and stew supper will be held in the Welch School cafeteria 5:00-6:30 p.m. Tickets are available from any of the junior/senior high school music students for $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for children under 12. Tickets may also be purchased at the door for $0.50 more per person.
The money raised from this event will be divided between the department and the students who sell tickets as they earn money to pay for the spring trip the department takes each year.
Come out and support the music department of Welch Public Schools and get a warm bowl of chili or stew before the Wildcats take on Depew.
Plus, there’s also a very special surprise slated for the Depew game. You won’t want to miss it!
